E-gift Cards and E-gift Certificates: Best Last Minute Gifts for Desperate Last Minute Christmas Eve Shopping

Wednesday December 24, 2008
Every holiday season has its last minute gift shoppers, but this Christmas Eve there seems to be a lot more shopping being done by people who are a lot more desperate. Unfortunately, when desperate shoppers intersect with even more desperate retailers, the end product is depleted stock and unsatisfying options. Today's best gift deals, soon to be today's last gift options, are e-gift cards and e-gift certificates.

Gift cards are for people who are out of ideas. E-gift cards are for people who are out of time. E-commerce retailers have figured out that after the retail stores close early on Christmas Eve, there will still be shoppers who need other gift options besides gas station convenience stores, and cash. Many major e-tailers put instant gratification technology to good use when they created e-gift cards, e-gift certificates, and other virtual gifting options to save shoppers from their own procrastination and forgetfulness.

The list of retail companies offering e-gift cards and e-gift certificates this year is long, which is good news for the people who are desperate for a gift to give. However, the retail industry analysts. While the numbers are as difficult to predict as the economy itself, it is certain that there will be substantial retail casualties in 2009.">list of retailers in financial trouble is also long, which is bad news for the people who will want to spend that gift. Although time is short, e-gift card shoppers would be wise to use a little bit of it to catch up on the financial status of a retailer before making a virtual purchase from them. Cash may seem tacky and thoughtless, but it’s more valuable than a virtual gift from a bankrupt retailer.
