Best Black Friday 2012 Mobile Phone Deals at Best Buy, Samís Club, Not Wal-Mart - Apple & Samsung Galaxy S3 Mobile Phone Best Prices & Discounts (BBY, WMT, RSH, TGT)

By November 17, 2012

Follow me on:

New mobile phone purchases, mobile phone upgrades, and mobile phone self-gifting are all expected to be hot on Black Friday, 2012. And since mobile phone payments are also predicted to explode this Christmas holiday shopping season, there will no doubt be a big number of Black Friday shoppers paying for their 2012 Black Friday mobile phone deals using the payment app on the old mobile phone they'll be replacing. It's a lovely demonstration of the technology continuum, don't you think?

If you're hoping that Black Friday prices and discounts would make the decision for you about which mobile phone to purchase on November 23, 2012, you'll probably find that the Black Friday 2012 mobile phone deals are not much easier to sort out than the confusing mobile phone features and plans that cause mobile phone shopping paralysis the other 364 days of the year.

As has been the case for the past few years, there's a number of mobile phones that will have the most popular price tag of all the Black Friday deals - free. Of course, that's "free" with conditions. The conditions include mail-in rebates, and 2-year contracts with the mobile carrier of the retailer's choice (not always yours).

But if a Samsung Galaxy S3 has been on your wish list and you can buy that mobile dream phone at Sam's Club for $0.96, then what's a few measly "free" conditions? Unlike many other Black Friday electronics deals "leaked" out early, the Sam's Galaxy S3 deal has not been pre-empted by Amazon... yet.

The worst thing about this Galaxy S3 deal, or any Sam's Club Black Friday 2012 deal, is that you actually need to be a Sam's Club member to purchase them. But Sam's is willing to help you out with that little membership detail this year.

If you're not a Sam's Club member and you are willing (or crazy enough) to join the club on Black Friday for $45, you'll get a bonus $40 Sam's Club gift card which can be used immediately. This means your Samsung Galaxy S3 mobile phone will really cost you $5.96, but that's still a Black Friday deal that can't be beat... yet.

If it's the absolute best price on mobile phones that you're looking for, then you probably won't be able to beat Best Buy's $1.00 price tag for an Apple iPhone. The tradeoff that you'll make for this rare and wonderful Apple product discount is that you won't be getting the latest iPhone model (the Best Buy deal is for an iPhone4), and you'll only be getting an 8GB mobile device. (My first cutting edge laptop only had 1GB, but 8 times more capacity today isn't considered to be adequate for life-in-the-palm-of-your-hand. Technology marches on.)

Of course you'll have to sign up for a 2-year activation plan in order to get an Apple iPhone for a buck from Best Buy on November 23, 2012, but the upside is you'll get your choice of carriers - AT&T or Verizon. It's worth noting that if Verizon is your carrier of choice, you can pop onto the Verizon website right now and get the same iPhone4 deal, and save yourself that very last dollar, since the Verizon FREE iPhone is available for purchase right now on the Verizon website.

Too bad Best Buy is in turnaround mode, otherwise, it might not have needed to collect that buck on its Black Friday iPhone deal. I think the $1.00 might pay for the multi-page activation contract that accompanies each purchase. I don't think it will cover the entire cost of ink for all the fine print on those contracts, though.

Besides Best Buy and Sam's, RadioShack (RSH), Target (TGT), and even Family Dollar (FDO) have some deep discounts on mobile phones for Black Friday 2012. See all the best Black Friday 2012 mobile phone discounts between 50% - 100% off here >>

Besides Samsung Galaxy S3 and iPhone4, there are some free and next-to-nothing prices on Motorola Droid Razr, HTC, and lots of different no-contract, pre-pay, pay-as-you-go brands of mobile phones. See all the best Black Friday deals on free mobile phones and prices below $100 here >>

Some might have been thinking that discount giant Wal-Mart might have the giant discounts on electronics in general and mobile phones in particular for Black Friday. According to what Wal-Mart has released so far, there are very few mobile phone deals to be had at Wal-Mart on Black Friday 2012, and none of them are all that doorbusting... yet.

In fact, in most categories of merchandise it seems like Wal-Mart is going through the Black Friday motions, but not trying very hard to be ultra-competitive in the game. Perhaps the Wal-Mart leaders are thinking that being one of the first of the stores open on Thanksgiving Day 2012 is good enough to draw a crowd. Or perhaps Wal-Mart has some magical marketing maneuvers planned for the Christmas holiday shopping season beyond Black Friday.

And yes, despite the hyped up bombardment surrounding Black Friday, there will be a Christmas holiday shopping season beyond November 23, 2012. And there will be more deals on more mobile phones, although not much better than $1.00 or free, so there's not much point in holding out. That is, unless you just don't want to pull the shopping all-nighter between Thanksgiving Day and Black Friday in order to snag one.

Obviously, many leaders of the largest U.S. retail chains have a hard time believing that sleep-shopping isn't everybody's idea of holiday family fun.

The reason why Best Buy is charging $1.00 is for tax purposes. Some states are requiring resellers to pay taxes on the full retail price of the phone when it is “sold” for free. However, the tax hit can be avoided by charging $1.00, thus paying only taxes on $1.00.

My advice is go to Best Buy Mobile and have them price match it. Also, you will save money if you plan to purchase a case, car charger, screen protector, ect. Verizon, AT&T, Sprint, and T-Mobile stores are usually twice as much.

Go to the stores and see for yourself.

Here in California, it is required to charge tax at full retail price. Unless it’s a warehouse store such as Sams or Costco, customers can expect to pay tax off the full retail.

So many errors in the article.

1) Sams club $40 off on the membership is for $100 membership not he basic $45 membership.

2) The iPhone best Buy is NOT a deal. iPhone 4 (8 GB) has been offered for $0.99 directly through AT&T for years (literally few months) now.

I can go on with a few others but this should be enough
