Gift
Certificates Don't Count in Retail Sales
Following generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP), sales of gift certificates
are not included in a retailer's sales figures for the timeframe when they were
sold. Gift certificates only become part of the retail sales figures when they
are redeemed.
Busiest
Shopping Day of the Season
The traditional start of the shopping season, the Friday after Thanksgiving
or Black Friday, is usually considered the busiest shopping day of the year,
but according to the International Council of Shopping Centers that honor actually
belongs to the last Saturday before Christmas.
