In the 2010 mid-term national elections, Republicans were intent on winning back control of both the House and the Senate and U.S. corporations opened their checkbooks to support the Grand Ole Capitalistic Party. Some of the direct corporate political contributions were trackable, but a significan amount of corporate political contributions were made via organizaitons that are not required to reveal the source of their funding. For example, the $75 million contributed by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce to the political campaigns of mostly Republican candidates originated in corporate coffers somewhere, but the exact source of these campaign dollars is mostly unknown.
