Happy U.S. retailers are happy to offer year-end New Year's clearance sales and deals to gift card and gift return customers in the last week of the 2011 calendar year in order to end a happy holiday shopping season on a happy note. In complete opposition to the retailing trends of the season, on New Year's Eve most major U.S. retail chains will be closing early and on New Year's Day, the first shopping day of 2012, most U.S. retail stores will be opening late.
