For top retail chains, retailing is a global endeavor. The biggest and best retail companies around the world find that they are both in partnership and in competition with other retailers for the attention and dollars of consumers around the world.
Each year Deloitte Touche Thmatsu and STORES Magazine publish the "Global Powers of Retailing" report which ranks top retail companies from around the world according to total annual sales. The following retail companies based in Australia are included on this prestigious list, which ranks the world's 250 largest retailers.
The number in the left column is the global ranking number assigned to the company, based on its sales figures, compared to other top retail organizations worldwide.
