Definition: Mail order is a form of retail sales in which a customer places a remote order via mail, telephone, or website, and then receives the ordered merchandise at a designated address by way of a package delivery service.
Also Known As: direct response marketing, mail order retailing, cataloging, e-commerce, multichannel marketing
Common Misspellings: male order, maile order, mailorder, mal order
Examples: Urban Outfitters will generate more than $63 million in direct mail sales from its website and the 40 million catalogs it will distribute this year.
