The largest retail companies in Mexico did not fare well in the recessionary fiscal year of 2009, relatively speaking, and consequently, fell considerably in the rankings on the 2011 Global Powers of Retailing list compiled by Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu and STORES Magazine. The exception to the decline of Mexico's largest retail chains was Hypermarket chain Comercial Chedraui, which joined the 2011 list with a rank of 219, after rival chain Distribucion y Servicio was acquired by Wal-Mart.
What follows is a list of the largest Mexican retail chains, according to fiscal year 2009 revenues. The number associated with each Mexican retail company indicates where the chain ranked compared to the 250 largest retail chains in the world.
