The first Arby’s restaurant was opened by Leroy and Forrest Raffel in Boardman, Ohio on July 23, 1964, selling roast beef sandwiches, potato chips and iced tea. The first Arby’s franchise opened just one year later.
Arby’s was purchased by Triarc Companies in 1993, and Triarc merged with Wendy’s in 1993 to become the Wendy’s Arby’s Group.
