Even though the U.S. retail job market has not yet recovered all the jobs that were lost from the retail sector during the Great Recession, there are plenty of U.S. cities where retail job hunters have seen improvements in retail job openings and retail hiring. Many of the largest cities in the U.S. have added thousands of U.S. retail industry jobs between 2011 and 2012, according to an analysis U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics figures completed by The Business Journals On Numbers. In all, forty of the largest cities in the U.S. had more people employed in retail jobs in April, 2012 than a year earlier.
What follows is a list of the top 20 U.S. cities where the U.S. retail industry added the largest number of jobs between April, 2011 and April, 2012. This list is arranged according to the number of retail jobs added, with the cities with the best retail job improvements listed first.
