Year Over Year Sales Percentage Changes Reveal Trends in Ups and Downs

January same store sales are generally not considered to carry much significance, compared to other key time periods in the annual retail sales calendar. January 2009, however, provides clues about the retail industry trends, which are not insignificant to retailers struggling for survival.

“Same store sales” specifically focuses on the retail sales in store locations that have been open for one year or more.

This is a comprehensive list of the same store sales figures reported by major U.S. retail companies. The percentages reported for each retail company represent the change in same store sales in January 2009, when compared to same store sales figures in January, 2008.
