The production of America's favorite fluffy friend also slowed down in the 2008 great retail recession, as evidenced by the 16.8% decline in Q4 2008 same store sales at Build-A-Bear Workshops.

In the first quarter of 2009, Build-A-Bear made new executive appointments to fill the hole left when they fired their president, Scott Seay in November, 2008.

Build-A-Bear continues to be an award-winning company, recognized for achievements with customers and employees alike. In the first quarter of 2009 Build-A-Bear earned a spot on Fortune Magazine's "100 Best Companies To Work For" list, as well as the 2009 "Best of the Web" award from WiredSafety at the 9th Annual WiredKids Summit.
