With $149.4 million in profits in 2008, Aeropostale outperformed 33 of the 60 specialty retailers ranked on the 2009 "Fortune 1000" list.
The company's total revenue grew 19% from the year before, its same store sales increased 8%, and its fourth quarter online sales grew 88% compared to the same period in 2007. The combination of these positive results in a year of retail recession earned the company its ranking on the pretigious Fortune list.
In 2009, Aeropostale will launch a new concept store, P.S. from Aeropostale, targeted for seven to twelve-year olds. Its plans call for 10 of these stores, along with 40 more Aeropostale store openings in 2009.
