The best judge of an auto company's customer service is the customer who is on the receiving end of it. That's why J.D. Power Associates bases its annual Customer Service Index (CSI) rankings of the top automobile brands on the satisfaction of its customers. Customers are asked about things like service quality, the service advisor, service facilities, etc., and based on their responses, the associates at JD Power quantify and rank all the major brands of automobiles sold in the U.S.
What follows is a list of the automobile companies that have been rated by customers and ranked by JD Power as being the worst for customer service, when service and maintenance are obtained from their dealership service departments. The number next to each year indicates the ranking that the auto company received in that year based on customer survey responses.
All of the companies on this list were rated below average for service by their customers. Compare the rankings that each worst customer service auto company received for 2008, 2009, 2010, and 2011 in this composite multi-year ranking list.
